Immigration New Zealand (INZ) has announced that it achieved a significant milestone by reaching a record-breaking 1 million visa decisions in the year 2023. This accomplishment demonstrates the agency's efficiency and ability to process a large number of applications effectively.

Out of the total visa decisions made, INZ processed a staggering 519,417 visitor visa applications. It is worth noting that over 80 percent of these applications were approved.

It is also important to highlight that these visa decisions were made during a time of substantial challenges caused by the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic. Despite the disruptions and restrictions, there were a total of 11.5 million border movements during the first full year of travel since the pandemic began.

Alongside these achievements, INZ reported that ten individuals were convicted of immigration offences during the same period, and the successful settlement of over 1500 refugees the previous year.
