About the role
We have an opportunity for a junior level Accountant to join our Porirua based financial reporting team. In this role you will be providing finance and administrative support to the New Zealand Aged Care and Retirement Village business to ensure the smooth delivery of key milestones. This role is well suited to an aspiring accountant looking to start their first public sector role or somebody looking to move from an SME or accounting firm to a large multi-national organisation. The successful candidate will be able to develop and learn from a variety of finance professionals working across financial control and reporting, commercial finance and finance operations, both in New Zealand and Australia. You will be work on monthly accounting processes, business delegations and assist with local and overseas reporting requirement.
Where you’ll make an impact
Month-end reporting, including preparation of accruals and other monthly journals.
Preparation of month-end balance sheet account reconciliations.
Assist with year-end accounts preparation work.
Maintain the New Zealand Register of Delegations.
Review and reconcile finance system user access profiles against the Register of Delegations and procurement system.
Process Retirement Village settlements.
Support Senior Accountants with reporting deliverables.
About you
Recent graduate accountant or an accountant with 1-2 years’ experience.
Computer literate, preferably with experience in Microsoft applications especially in Excel and Word.
Prioritizes successfully.
Works well in a team environment.
Customer Service focus.
Attention to detail and accuracy.
