The Job
As the result of an internal promotion, an opportunity has arisen for a motivated and results-driven individual to take over a well-established and high-output Field Service Supervisor role. This role will be based in our Auckland branch and will report to the Service Manager. This is a varied technical position that involves a combination of customer liaison, staff supervision, and administration tasks as well as working in the field on the tools and mentoring and assisting the field service technicians. This is a full-time permanent position and will see you working 45 hours Monday to Friday. A competitive remuneration package is on offer which includes a base salary ranging from $95,000 - $110,000 and a company-provided vehicle.
The Field Service Supervisor will be responsible for:
- Complete diverse hands-on corrective and planned maintenance tasks and servicing and repairs on a range of heavy diesel engines and supporting machinery and equipment
- Complete fault-finding tasks and rectify all mechanical and electrical issues on our OEM product range, specifically MTU and Detroit engines
- Ensure all field service technicians are providing safe, timely, and high-quality service to our customers within the heavy transport, marine, rail, power gen, and heavy equipment industries
- Coordinate the workloads of Field Service technicians within the field and also work collaboratively with the Auckland truck workshop where needed
- Be the key contact person for all jobs and manage all customer relationships
- Promote and monitor productivity and efficiency to maximize profitability and ensure customer time schedule expectations are consistently met
- Provide technical and product assistance to customers and technicians in both a hands-on tools-based capacity and administratively
- Organize and deliver regular toolbox meetings
- Prepare and submit quotations, review and invoice repair orders
- Approve weekly timesheets and any overtime payments or allowances
- Complete job card warranty paperwork as per company guidelines
- Assist with the ongoing development and training of technicians to extend their abilities
About You
In order to be successful in this role, you will offer:
- Trade Qualification - diesel mechanic/diesel fitter (Level 4 NZQF equivalent)
- A minimum of five years of experience within the heavy transport/plant and machinery/mining/marine or industrial engine industries
- Sound knowledge and experience working with MTU and/or Detroit diesel engines (Cummins and CAT product lines experience also relevant)
- Previous staff leadership experience within the heavy transport and/or industrial engine industries
- An ability to model safe operating practices and adhere to company safety guidelines and expectations
- An ability to understand and grasp technical product information and provide product resolution
- The confidence to develop outstanding relationships with a range of customers and represent the ABC brand with high levels of professionalism
- A passionate, sociable, and engaging personality with proven experience supervising a technically astute team
- Strong numeracy skills with the ability to monitor and manage productivity and efficiency with the aim of maximizing profit
- Experience in understanding and interpreting financial information
- An ability to think differently, influence & motivate others to consistently deliver on customer service
- Resilience, determination, and strong negotiation skills
